Providence diner video in the works

Congratulations to the nice people (Tink, Erica & Carol) at the historic Liberty Elm Diner on Elmwood Ave. in Providence. The funky little diner was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1947 Worcester Lunch Car Company diner first opened for business as the Central Diner in downtown Providence near the Providence Journal. The diner was relocated to Elmwood Avenue around 1953 where it changed owners and names several times before being shuttered for three years. In 2006 the diner was rescued and eventually refurbished (rebuilt might be more like it), pumping a little life into the stretch of Elmwood Ave. out by the RIPTA garage.

I jumped at the chance to shoot some video at the diner today and listened in while WRNI reporter Flo Jonic interviewed owner Carol DeFeciani, RI Preservation Commission historian Sarah Zurier and photographer/web designer/diner lover Denise Bass who all worked together to achieve the designation. Flo’s radio story is scheduled to run Friday on the Rhode Island public radio station. Look for the video here on Friday as well.

    Hey Scott,

Nice post, thanks for the link.

I’m not sure if you’ve ventured into code land yet, but…FYI – you probably want to have links like that open in a new window so people don’t get lost trying to get back to your site.. To do that you would add target=”_blank” into the code. EX:

You do have a bit of javascript in there and I’m not exactly sure if the placement of the target=blank should be before or after the javascript.
