Providence diner video is history!
Whew! That was easy.
Always a lot to learn with a new computer and software. Can you really not convert mp4s to flvs? Spending all day (and night) looking at bacon and eggs is killing me. I just might have to go get breakfast.

By the way, I got the rss feed with the blurb about the video in my email box like always. I clicked on read more and it brought me to the Providence diner is history post, but the video wasn’t there. I had to look around for it. I think I found it under categories: video. Shouldn’t it show up in the post?
No, I didn’t find it in categories: video. I found it on the home page after I clicked on Providence/Newport Photographer – ASK video. I think it should be in the post.
I only posted it on the built-in video player … not sure how to post it in a post w/o vimeo or cincopa. Could you please email the rss feed notice? Er, wait … I think I get it …
Scott, the Elmwood diner video is really good. Congratulations. Very impressive. Your work is A1. I understand you shot in HD. I’d be grateful to know more about the equip. you used and editing software, etc. The super sharp image quality is mind blowing. Wow!
Thank you, Wesley. The most important piece of gear is a tripod. The camera is a Sony HDR-XR500V with a borrowed-from-a-friend-Sony wide-angle attachment. The microphone is a Sony ECM-CR120, which is, next to the tripod, the best $75 I’ve spent on gear in a long time. (Thank you, Curt Chandler at Penn State.)
Here’s the workflow I used:
Final Cut Express
Export as Quicktime, uncompressed.
MPEG Streamclip — export as H.264, 90% quality, 960 x 540, de-interlace. Uncompressed audio.
Convert to FLV with Adobe Media Encoder CS4. Preset: Flash 8 and higher.
Upload to WordPress Media Library for homepage 950 x 534 HD video. Add meta data, post.
Thanks for asking,
Scott
